365 days, like one extremely complicated day... The War Museum opened an exhibition about the day that changed us all. About the day that stays engraved in our hearts. About the day that divided our lives into "before" and "after". About February 24, 2022
During a short speech, the curator of the project, Liudmyla Rybchenko noted that the museum staff sought to outline the most significant events and the most powerful messages, which prevented them from falling into despair and losing hope throughout the year. Working on the project was a kind of therapy.

The two parts of the exhibition reflect the two fundamental components of Ukrainian resistance to Russian aggression, which became the drivers of our struggle and the guarantee of the future Victory: the Ukrainian military and the Ukrainian people.

Today we met with the families and fellow combatants of those who, semper fi, loyally defend their land since the first day: special forces "Omega" operators Roman Sobkiv, Viktor Golovko and Vadym Zelenyuk, who at the cost of their lives stopped the Russian landing on the outskirts of Kyiv; pilots Stepan Chobana, Oleksandr Oksanchenko and Mykhailo Matyushenko, whose feats, among others, formed the collective image of the "Ghost of Kyiv"; defenders of Zmiiny Island Roman Hrybov and Vasyl Vyrozub, who in the face of the enemy, with his superiority in manpower and weapons, remained loyal to the oath; Heroes of Ukraine, Oleksiy Senyuk and Dmytro Chavalakh, whose stories impress with the extremity of the storylines.

The exhibition with a laconic title tells about them, as well as about the civilians who united in support of the state. You must have heard about the 11-year-old chess champion Valeria Yezhova, who earns money for the Ukrainian Army with her game. Or about the paramedic Yuliya Paevska "Taira", who evacuated people in the city of Mariupol under intense fire. Their materials are also here.

We were impressed by the strength of spirit of Lyubov Pohonyuk and Olena Lugova, who, having survived the horrors of the Second World War, the Gulag and the Holocaust, were not afraid of a repeated historical challenge and in every possible way support the Armed Forces and the fighting spirit of fellow citizens.

The timeline of the first day of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation plunges us into this day a year ago - and it is stunning. However, the stories of the heroes of the project inspire and motivate to move forward. To the final Victory!
